San Francisco is situated at the north of a peninsula, and is surrounded on three sides by water: the pacific at the west, the San Francisco Bay at the east, and at the north there is up the "Golden Gate" nearly to the other side of the coast. The center of the city is situated at the shore of the bay, where lay the old Yerba Buena of the spaniard. One of the important places is the Ferry Building, from there begins the Market Street and goes straight ahead to the Twin Peaks. The Twin Peaks divide the grid of the streets to "South of Market" and "North of Market Street". The streets going in a cute angled direction to the north, received names, while many streets going in right angles to the received numbers. (from 1st to 12th Street). At the nearest to the Ferry Building is situated the "Financial District" with the largest banking of the american west coast. In the west it is edged by the "Union Square", in the north by the famous "Chinatown". In the west of Chinatown is situated the elegant quarter "Nob Hill" and in the north "North Beach". Again the neighbouring quarters to North Beach are "Russian Hill" in the west and "Telegraph Hill" in the east and "Fisherman's Wharf" in the north.
