The history of the most northern distillery of Scottland began 1798, when Magnus Eunson started to distill under the counter on the terrain of the distillery. Robert Borwick erected in 1825 the today's distillery receiving in 1826 its licence. Until 1869 it remained in property of Borwicks. Afterwards there followed some rotations of property. 1890 James Grant acquire possession the distillery. He extended the two potstills to four. 1918 to 1937, adopted by the Highland Distillery Group, the distillery was shut down. 1997 to 2005 the collaborator plied the Scapa Distillery as well. For that they were allowed to use the storages of the area.
