The Chilehaus. The building is named after the South American country of Chile because the developer earned his vast fortune trading in Chilean saltpeter.
The Reeperbahn. The place where ropes and hawsers for the shipping industry were once twisted is now the city’s "sinful mile." It is not a destination for children and perhaps not the best choice for a short trip with your mother-in-law but it is certainly a unique spot to experience Hamburg’s sinful side.
