The northern part (Saint Martin) is placed under supervision of the French overseas department Guadeloupe, the southern part (Sint Maarten) under supervision of Netherlands West Indies. The French part has a area of 52 squarekilometers, the Netherland part 34 squarekilometers. The crossing lasts 5 hours.

The next day we go by Dingi into the bay of Grand Case at a rock formation for snorkeling. There stretches a nice coral reef round the rock. In feeding the fishes we watch several coloured coral inhabitants.
